India's Northeast & Davos - Mountain Hub

I am Subhasish Chakraborty , Freelance Travel Writer from India- wsimag.com/authors/102-subhasish-chakraborty

Headline: Showcasing India's Remote North East - World' Anthropological & Biodiversity Hotspot

Summary: India's Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has been focusing on highlighting the remote North East of India to the global community. The outside world is largely unaware of the region's stupendous diversity in terms of tourism and still carries the perception of the North East of India as a landlocked, terrorist infested and difficult place to visit, which is absurd. The time is ripe to unravel this region in all its glory and change the narratives.

Why Should India's North East be promoted in WEF Davos ?

》India's North East is the world's Anthropological Hotspot.

》 There are 250+ tribes

》 One of the world's most sacred Buddhism hub and His Holiness The Dalai Lama's emotional connect with ancient Buddhist monasteries like Tawang, Tashiding etc....

》 Some of the highest motorable passes - Nathula Pass & Sela Pass.

》 The last head hunters of the world (Nagaland).

》 World's largest riverine Island Majuli.

》 One of the world's most ancient and turbulent rivers - The Brahmaputra flows through North East.

》World's most densely cultivated tea growing region (Assam, Darjeeling).

》 The last habitat of the rare and endangered One Horned Rhinoceros in the UNESCO designated World Heritage Site of Kaziranga National Park.

》The world's highest twin-lane mountain tunnel Sela Pass at 14, 000 feet above Sea Level.

》 Geo-strategically very volatile with frequent Chinese military incursion in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh.

THE BIG IDEA:

"Creation of An Exclusive Indo-Swiss MOUNTAIN TOURISM PAVILION ".

India and Switzerland share a long and historic bilateral relationship, based on trust and mutual respect for each other's culture. Time us ripe for the creation of an exclusive Indo-Swiss MOUNTAIN TOURISM HUB at Davos with exclusive focus being on India's remote and mountainous North East that will facilitate cross cultural exchanges through the vehicle of Tourism.

Such a Centre of Excellence will offer distinguished guests at Davos with a peek into India's Marlboro Land - The Northeast, blessed with the high Himalayas, ancient Buddhist monasteries, world's highest motorable passes and a stupendous cultural diversity with as many as 250 fascinating mountain tribes inhabiting this region, thereby making this region an Anthropological & Biodiversity Hotspot.

The renowned Swiss Hospitality and Tourism sector could play a pivotal role in branding, infrastructure developments, offering consultancy services in the domain of adventure tourism ( ropeway, hiking trails, high altitude sports etc...).

Thus, a Centre of Excellence at Davos that showcases the stupendous tourism diversity of India's remote North Eastern region will be a befitting tribute to one of the world's greatest living spiritual ambassador - His Holiness The Dalai Lama.
